Photos. Videos. Letters. Old text messages.

I’ve always loved documentation.

That’s where validation lives.

Validation that the moment happened. The feelings were felt. The reality is real.

Even if later, the memories turn sour or the feelings transform to something entirely opposite, the documentation holds the past true.

With a new adventure in front of us, I can tell you a few things—

First and foremost, I’m excited.

I feel a bit like a love-struck school girl.

I’ve known you for years but I’m so excited for the opportunity to get to know who you really are.

I have a million questions. I want to know you all at once. But, that takes the beauty out of the process.

I can’t wait to know what scares you, how you wake up in the morning or what it was like for you growing up.

I wanna know what your favorite ice cream is, who your role models are and what you dream about at night.

All this and more.

Secondly, I can tell you that I’m going to do my best to document whatever this is.

I don’t promise that I’ll write with consistency, but I promise to document the details I feel important, because I can tell in our eye contact that this could be something really special.

You held my head and whispered song lyrics into my ears.

You hopped into the scalding shower to wash my hair.

You never let my body detangle from yours for a single moment in the night.

You laughed at my jokes, smiled at my movements, and kissed every inch of my skin.

The awe in your eyes made my stomach drop, so I giggled. You gripped on tighter.

Delightfully terrifying.

Fearfully wonderful.

What a grand “what if.”
